Derek Taylor Kent
(Writer/Director) - A graduate of the UCLA School of Theatre where he
studied acting, directing, and was honored with the rare privelege of
auditing the Masters playwriting program. While at UCLA,
Derek wrote and directed several shows, and went on to study
Commedia Del'Arte in Florence, Italy. Upon returning to LA, Derek
wrote and starred in several Commedia Del'Arte shows including his

been pursuing his musical aspirations, writing the songs and recording
an album with his band, Son of Scotland (sonofscotland.com).
With KING KALIMARI, Derek is thrilled to combine his love of theatre,
music, musicals, and comedy into a grand, one-of-a-kind event.
Inspired by his favorite musicals, Into the Woods, Spamalot, Something Funny Happened on the Way to the Forum, as well as classics such as Hamlet, The Tempest, Macbeth, and Oedipus Rex,
Derek hopes to give you a fresh and hilarious perspective of our
immortal stories and entertain you in the way only a spectacular
American musical can.

Kim Mackenzie (Artistic
Director/Choreographer) - An L.A. Native, Kim Mackenzie's theater
aspiration sprung from her dance roots. Raised in ballet,
Kim was preparing for a professional career in ballet before she

(Delores), Kim exercised her talent as a triple threat. She
then followed her dream of appearing on the silver screen, starring in
such films as Ten, Beauty Sleep, Talking to Strangers, A Friend, and A Different Mirror. Now, with King Kalimari,
Kim returns to her original love of musical theater and combines it
with her dance roots, taking on the role of choreographer. Kim is
ever grateful for this opportunity and is thankful to her friends and
family for their love and support.
